Help Us Meet the Match!
Thanks to a generous grant from the AUSHERMAN FAMILY FOUNDATION, your financial donation to Advocates will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the foundation. Donations and the grant itself will be used to help pay for the utility and maintenance expenses for the apartments and townhouses housing homeless families. Ninety-three percent (93%) of all donations directly support our programs and family supports.
Opportunity to Serve on Board Committees
Are you concerned about homelessness and poverty in Frederick? You can help! Advocates for Homeless Families, a non-profit organization whose mission is to empower motivated families to overcome homelessness, is seeking new Board committee members for a one- or more- years to serve on Board committees and to further our mission to achieve permanent solutions to homelessness in Frederick County.

Our homeless families with minor children achieve success through a two-year structured program of education, housing and support services. Advocates operates two major programs, an emergency transitional housing program and a program to help families in economic crisis to remain in their homes. In particular Advocates needs board members with fundraising, financial, education and/or marketing experience. However, any interested applicant who is ready to commit one or more years to serve on one of the following committees – program, finance, board development, or volunteer -- is welcome to apply.

Applicants should submit a resume and letter of interest to Ken Allread, Advocates for Homeless Families, 216 Abrecht Place, Frederick, MD 21701. If you have any questions, please call 301-662-2003 or email Ken Allread at [email protected]. The letter should highlight the applicant’s qualifications that will contribute to Advocates mission.
