We are delighted that you’re interested in volunteering with Advocates for Homeless Families and supporting our mission to help Frederick County households achieve lasting stability and self-sufficiency. Volunteers play a vital role in advancing our work and making a meaningful difference in the lives of the families we serve.
We offer a variety of volunteer opportunities to match your skills, interests, and availability, including:
- Administrative Support: Assist with office projects, data entry, mailings, and organizational tasks that keep our programs running smoothly.
- Board and Committee Service: Contribute your expertise by serving on one of our active committees that guide program development, fundraising, and outreach.
- Property Support: Help paint and refresh interiors when one of our 12 transitional housing units becomes available for a new family.
- Mentorship: Provide guidance and encouragement to a parent working toward financial independence and family stability.
- Community Drives: Organize a neighborhood collection of non-perishable foods or household goods to restock our pantry for families in transition.
- Outreach and Ambassadorship: Represent Advocates in the community and help raise awareness about our mission and impact.
- Seasonal Projects: Participate in fall and spring yardwork, cleaning, or beautification efforts at our properties.
- Event Assistance: Support fundraising events, community fairs, or donation distributions throughout the year.
Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age. If you’re ready to get involved or would like to learn more about how you can make a difference, please contact Executive Director Shiara Jackson at [email protected] or reach us directly through our Contact Us form.
